Well for starters, let me just say I have never written a blog before, nor was I the type of adolescent girl running home to write in my diary after class. I have always used art as a means of communication, a way to express my emotions and escape from my surroundings. It was a naturally occurring relationship, one that came to me at a very young age. After digging deep into copywriting as a graphic design and marketing coordinator this past year, I am happy to say I have gained a new source of personal expression, creative writing.
It only seems fitting to begin my first blog with a topic of conversation that exists before this very page, my very own website. Over the course of the last two weeks I have slaved away day in and day out as I collected imagery, wrote content, and defined myself as a designer and entrepreneur. I knew I always wanted to open my own business one day, but never took the free time to make something of it. In the past I was told I need to build myself, my brand, and my experience before taking that leap of faith. While I have much to learn and a lot more experience I finally asked myself, why wait? Who says I can't dedicate my time to a successful company and begin to build my reputation with freelancing projects in my spare time? All it takes is a vision, determination, dedication, and a course of action that will keep me balanced.
First step first was the website. It has been a great learning experience - one that has already taught me how valuable my time is, how crucial file organization can be, and most importantly, how every great accomplishment starts with the decision to try.
